More Happy Endings.
Here are some more of our YCR Foster dogs now in their forever homes
Paco has gone to his forever home on Cape Cod with Ashley and Tom, where he is getting all the love and attention that he deserves, including his special favorites --- walks and belly rubs!
Update from Tuti's new family: "Tuti's doing wonderfully! She's adjusted so well. She's stopped growling ... like you said, she just needed someone to tell her to stop! She loves going out for walks, too. We just put on her lil' doggie sweater and her leash and she's ready to go. We've been walking her every day for about half an hour to an hour, and when I'm freezing and ready to go back inside, she's still anxious to keep going. I can't thank you enough for bringing her to our family. I don't think there could've been a more perfect fit. We have noticed that she's jealous for attention, but she's most definitely showered with attention in this home."
Spike, half dachshund, half Chihuahua, has been fostered and placed in a wonderful new home by our good Dachshund Rescue buddies at DARE.
What Chihuahua wouldn't be envious of
this?
|
Taco, pictured on the left next to his brother Poco, is settling into his new homes quite nicely. Yes, homes! Taco now enjoys summers in Massachusetts and winters in the sunny state of Florida. He's livin' large in the family RV. Congratulations to the entire crew! |
Nita (Juanita) has been adopted by Linda and Charles, her foster parents. After being bounced around so much, she became part of the family at her foster home, and they just couldn't let her go! She now has others to play with, and her humans to love. She's now with her very own pack.
Tiger has been adopted by Stephanie, one of YCRAA's volunteers. Tiger is one of our "Golden Oldies", and will continue to keep his job as a goodwill ambassador for YCRAA, attending many more public events. He visits an assisted-care facility every week, and continues to bring the residents great pleasure. Way to go, Tiger!
From Lucky's new family:Lucky is doing very well. He and Rocco are the perfect match. They wrestle and play at least two hours a day. He still fights with Diesel, but not as much. I think it is miscommunication ... Diesel's play-bark is the same as his fight-bark, so Lucky thinks it's a call to fight. That's the only time they fight. They lie together and they stand side by side for treat time with absolutely no problem. Here are some pictures of Lucky with Rocco and Diesel.
Mark, Lisa, and Brittnie
Ricky is now named "Rocky". He is pictured (at the right) with his big brother Kismet. Rocky"s new Mom says, "Rocky is great! He is Kizzy's little baby brother -- she lets him crawl and jump all over her! They are always rolling around playing and when they are pooped, Rocky just topples over her and lays his head on her back. It is sooo cute!" Rocky has truly found his "Happy Ending" with JoAnn, Michael, and Kizzy!!
Spanky has been adopted by a woman in Haverhill, Mass., who plans to devote her "retirement years" to making him happy!
Diesel has been adopted by Mark and Lisa (and daughters) of South Portland, Maine. They have another Chihuahua, Rocco, who lost his old buddy, and they adopted Diesel to be Rocco's new pal. Diesel is finally home where he belongs.
Kirby has been adopted! He is now in his new home with Linda, his human, and doing very well. Kirby is having great fun playing with his two Chihuahua friends. Congrats to all!
Becky has been adopted! Her foster parents, Charles amd Linda of Maine, fell in love with Becky when they fostered her. The adoption will become official after Becky is spayed in November. She fit into the household perfectly and loves Charles' lap more than anything. Congrats to all!
Roxie has a new home and a new name! She is very happy and winning hearts all around her. Her new Indian name is "Lhemu" which means "good". A happy ending for a good little girl!
Sunshine came to YCRAA needing surgery on both eyes. Unfortunately, one eye had to be removed. Because of her condition when she arrived, she remained in foster care for 5 months. The picture on the upper left shows what Sunshine looked like when she came to YCRAA. Both eyes needed surgery. The middle picture shows her pain-free for the first time in her life, and looking much healthier with her coat growing in nicely. She had also come out of her shell and was very active. The picture on the right shows her very happy and healthy. Her coat is long and thick. She has become very beautiful, trusting, and loving. She is now with her forever moms, Alison and Louise. They have renamed her Mariposa Linda (meaning "blossoming butterfly beautiful).Update: Here is Sunshine (see large picture above) with her new sisters! Sunshine's new moms have taken great patience and care to continue her trust and love of humans. Sunshine, with her pain before her eye was removed, would just sit there frightened and watch the world go by ... frightened of people and missing out on play with other doggies. Now she enjoys the company of all her sisters, large and small. She jumps on the backs of her basset sisters to get closer to treats. Her moms are home all day and she enjoys a full life of play and mischief, exploring her surroundings and enjoying fresh air and sunshine. She quickly and excitedly jumps into her crate anticipating the car rides she knows are coming. Here is a quote from her new moms, Alison and Louise. "She loves coming inside and jumping into one of her beds or on the pillows on the couch, and enjoys schmoozing for tidbits. When the day is done, she cuddles in bed with her mom and her Chihuahua sisters, and goes to sleep after saying a little prayer of thanks for the wonderful and kind people who rescued her and saved her life, and taught her to trust and love. And we are totally enchanted by her!" Hurray, Sunshine, you are home!
Happy endings to Rosie and Ralf! They now have a wonderful home with a wonderful family. We wish them all the very best!
After being fostered for awhile to get healthier and spayed, KiKi has been adopted by a wonderful, childless couple with two cats, where she can be the only dog and treated like the jewel she is. It was love at first sight. She is now named Pretty Penny, which suits her bright shining aura. Penny is moving into a beautiful house with her own space, not shared by her foster brother and sisters, with whom she fought for territory and attention. There is also a lovely garden and yard that she will enjoy. She's on her special healthy organic diet, and her skin problem and weight issue are improving more and more. She's already learned a couple of new tricks from her dog trainer and made friends with all the neighbors. Her new mom is home all the time, so Penny will at last have the attention, security, and bonding she's been wanting and deserves so much. Happiness abounds!
Sparky is now settled happily in his new home!
He's been adopted by Elyse and Robert in Connecticut where he is having a wonderful time playing with their female
Chihuahua, Aiko, who is just Sparky's age and size -- and a match for him in
energy! |
|
Honey has been adopted by Eleanor of Halifax,
Mass. Yippee! |
|
Here's Buffy. Buffy's foster mom called him
Saint Buffy because he was the nicest dog of any kind she had ever had the pleasure of knowing.
He is a sweet, gentle, friendly guy who likes all people and all animals of any size.
It took awhile to find a home that would appreciate and love him because he doesn't look very much like a
Chihuahua is supposed to look, and he was 10 years old when he came to
YCRAA. A wonderful couple in New Hampshire took him into their home and hearts. Lucky Buffy, lucky them! |
|
Choco has been adopted by Richard from St. Albans, Vermont. Congrats to both!
Ruby has been adopted by the New Hampshire family that adopted Lilly. She also has a little Chihuahua "brother" named Bean, who is smitten with her. Ruby loves to retrieve balls her new mom throws for her, Lilly, and Bean. It's a very happy ending for little Ruby!

Belle is spoiled rotten and she runs the house. |
|
Tiny has been adopted by Valerie of
Boston where he enjoys an ocean view, his morning belly-rubs, and constant
love and companionship. Congratulations to all! |
|
Lester is now "Skipper", and has moved into a beautiful, perfectly- suited home with a wonderful new mom and dad, where he gets the tons of love and special attention he has always deserved. Sunny has been adopted by an older couple in Maine. Things didn't go well at first when Sunny nipped her new mom's hand when she met her. But it seems to have all worked out very well. Sunny quickly got used to her new parents, and is now happily being pampered and having a great life!
Here's Peepers (Mr. Peeps) on the left with his new "big sister" Gina, who was adopted from a rescue 2 years ago. They like to do everything together, including wrestling on the couch. When it's warm enough, they go to work and guard their dad's pickup on his job site. Their pay: sharing his lunch, along with anyone else's that they've charmed. Peepers also has 3 new cat friends that he keeps trying to teach how to play like dog!
Zoe came to us a very fragile, lonely, shy little girl. When Zoe's human's career gave her little time for Zoe, she loved her enough to surrender her to YCRAA. Now Zoe has a home where someone is always with her. She also has a doggie family of other rescued Chihuahuas, including a boyfriend to play with that she is crazy about. Zoe is still fragile and shy, but so much happier, and coming out of her shell more and more. She has really bonded to her adopted dad and it's a very, very happy ending for them both.
Fanny was a stray pound puppy who had serious medical problems and much pain before YCRAA volunteers helped to bring her back. This loving pup found her forever home in Gardner, Mass., where she has just been adopted by a YCRAA volunteer. Fanny is totally deaf and nearly blind, but that doesn't stop her from lapping up all the love that she now finds in Gardner. Her mom feels very lucky because Fanny picked HER to be her forever caretaker. Fanny, now at 16 years old, loves her morning walks, and has a brother and three sister doggies to keep her company during the day. Fanny is one of the wonderful senior stories that YCRAA has to tell. Thanks to a kind and caring home, Fanny is happy and pain-free!

Sprite has gone to live with her new forever mommy, Jillisa, who is taking things very slowly, just as Sprite needs, and is gaining a little more trust every day. It will take awhile, but Jillisa will soon have her "little bundle of joy". Her new mom loves her very much, and knows her love and patience will be returned with a lifetime of love and trust from Sprite. Congratulations to Sprite and Jillisa for finding each other!
Jasper has been adopted by Charles and Lillian of Vermont. They have called to say how much they love him already. They have a female who looks very much like Jasper. He's home at last!
Beautiful, affectionate, faithful young Sancha was once the baby of the house until the couple had a human baby who took her place. Sancha is now called Agnes, or Aggie, affectionately, and has a lovely home on Cape Cod with a childless couple and two other doggie friends. Agnes now enjoys long walks on the beach and being treated like the princess she is.
Chiqui was surrendered because of a divorce, but is now a happy boy in his new home, with his female pug friend, and two very devoted humans. They are lucky to have this young, smart, playful, affectionate, friendly-to-everyone Chihuahua. He will surely bring the family much pleasure. He's a really good boy and deserves all the love he will get.

Sammy is living happily ever after with Patti in Ashford, Connecticut. With the help of a spray bottle, he's learning to control his odd issues over people/dogs moving,
Update from Sammy's mom: Last year my father showed my daughter how to hit a whiffle ball with her big plastic bat. This year, they have Sammy to play with them. My father throws the ball for Kayla to hit, and Sammy retrieves the ball and brings it back to my father. The ball is plastic with holes in it, and it is so funny to watch Sammy chase the ball, actually causing it to roll farther away before he can pick it up and bring it back. Our little Sammy is doing well, still chewing on anything he can get his little teeth on. We have discovered this summer how much Sammy really responds to us telling him what a good boy he is. He really seems to know what it means.
Chipper is now known as "Teddy", and is the much-loved only dog of Sue and Rick in Mass. Yippee!
Starr is now the pampered pet of Katie and Megan on the South Shore of Mass. Congratulations to all!
Spot, who has been renamed "Buddy", is very happy in his new home, and continues to amuse everyone with his antics. His new family consists of Mom and Dad, a 20-year-old son, and an 18-year-old daughter. His critter family includes a collie/shepherd, a rat terrier, and a cat. He has already gone a whole day doing all of his "business" outdoors, and is well on his way to being completely housebroken. From the very first night he was brought home, he has slept cuddled in his new mom's arms or across her body. Since he has no tail, he expresses his happiness by prancing around with a twinkle in his eye. Another success story for YCRAA!
Dior is the firstborn of Chanel, and sister to Willy and Spot. (See listings below for Chanel and Willy.) Dior is now living in Massachusetts with Karen (human), Karen's 16-year-old son, Will, and five house rabbits. Dior has learned to "come" and "fetch", and starts puppy school next week. She gives kisses on command, and has become very bonded to her new mommy, and likes to nap in her mommy's lap. Happy endings! Update from Karen:Dior is a little doll with a fuzzy face and curly tail. We think that maybe her dad was part Jack Russell because of her tail. She now weighs 9 pounds and has been through puppy kindergarten and beginning obedience class. She's known at "school" as "Happy Heeler" because she doesn't walk, she prances! People have told me, "That's the cutest puppy I've ever seen!" We love her dearly.
Aster is now with Mary in her forever home. Mary thanks YCRAA for sending Aster to her.
Chanel was found on the streets. She was very, very pregnant at the time. As no one claimed her, she was given to YCRAA. On December 1, 2000, she delivered Odie, Dior, Tizzie, Willy, and Spot. Paco's new family lost their Sheltie to cancer, and they felt the time was right for adopting a Chihuahua. They have another dog, Robin, who is a lhasa apso, plus 4 cats, one of which (the smallest one) chased Paco down the stairs, never knowing that Paco is a wimp!
Phoebe has been adopted!
Gemma had been living with skin infections and open cuts. She had been abandoned by her "people" on the streets of Springfield and turned into the shelter as a stray. After appropriate therapy consisting of steroids, medicated baths, and Frontline, she was spayed, updated on shots, and adopted on November 18th by Noreen Chilson, a retired florist from Attleboro. Bailey has been adopted by a wonderful woman in Mass. who also has another rescue named Snowy, a former puppy mill breeding female whom she has rehabilitated. She and Bailey are the same age and should be fast friends. Update: Bailey is as handsome as ever, and he and Snowy are very close. Snowy likes to wash Bailey's face for him. When told to give him kisses, she runs over and gives him a lick. He has even started to sing a little bit when Snowy sings her song. His singing is more like wailing, but it's done at the appropriate time.
Barbie has been adopted!
