Chewey came to YCRAA with many issues he needed help in dealing with so he could overcome them. He responded quickly to proper direction and became a happy, loving little guy. However, he often looked to his foster mom for assurance that it was okay to do normal doggie things. He also had an intense fear of abandonment. He remained happily in his foster home for 11 months until his foster mom felt confident enough to let him go to a wonderful woman in Massachusetts. When Chewey met Shirley, his foster mom felt confident enough to place him in her arms. There was no fear in Chewey. It was love at first sight for both. Thank you, Shirley, for loving Chewey and giving him the forever home he so deserves. We know you will give him the love he needs.

Max came to his new home from the streets of Woburn with a real issue about men. He ended up in the same wonderful animal hospital as Santos and Armando (see below). His new adopted home is made up of five women and one man, which Max thinks is heavenly. He now has more love and affection than he can handle, and his choice of beds to sleep in. He has turned into one of the sweetest dogs, and has become fast friends with the other dog in the house, Chester, a Pomeranian mix. He has even come to tolerate the lone man of the house. That man is actually a very animal-savvy person and has made leaps and bounds with Max. We can't thank you enough, Herb, and your family, for giving Max all this love and his "Forever Home". Congratulations to you all for the great job you've done and for giving Max all the love he so deserves! Thank you Herb, Pat, Heather, Jessica, Becky, and Kim!
Santos and Armando were found abandoned in a home. They were taken to a wonderful animal hospital in Massachusetts (VCA Wakefield). It was discovered that the boys were inseparable and needed to find a home where they could remain together. They were spotted on our website and adopted together by a very caring woman. She has renamed them Santi and Taco. The boys are very happy, and Stefanie just loves them dearly as does everyone who meets them. Taco has become obsessed with collecting his mom's slippers and toys and anything he can steal, and hiding them in the boys' bed. Santi finds it much more fun to jump into his mom's lap and take a nap. Thank you, Stefanie, for helping these two boys!
Macho and Maggie are a bonded pair that desperately needed a new home. They were very fond of each other, so they wanted to stay together forever. We are happy to report that they have found their new home and are still together! They also have two new playmates, Punkin and Nangi. Their new family is so happy to have them! They are all having a great time playing together, and their new family just raves about them. They are shown here with their new playmates and Dad. Tia's owner passed away and Tia came to us. She has been adopted and goes everywhere with her new owner. They are both very happy together!
Cappy came into YCRAA with several issues from his past, the least of which was that he was treated harshly. In his foster home, he learned to overcome these issues. Cappy much preferred men over women. He was always on his foster dad's heels or by his side. Mom was an okay replacement until Dad walked thru the door, and then it was right back to Dad! All Cappy asked for was his own dad to love him forever and to love his dad forever in return.Cappy remained in foster care for over 15 months until Ken came along. Ken adopted Cappy and Ken now has his third leg! They have developed a tremendous bond and both are very happy and good for each other. They couldn't be happier, ahem ... not to mention the fact that Cappy now sleeps in a heated water bed, and rumors have been circulating that Cappy is in control of the heat settings. A very hearty congratulations to Ken and Happy Cappy for finally finding each other! Keep sending the updated pics for our Happy Endings, Ken. And thanks for seeing in Cappy the sweet guy that he is! You've made his little heart happy and his life full. We can't thank you enough for that.

Bambi's new family loved her immediately. She will be spoiled rotten, and, with two laps, no waiting! Hooray! This is how Bambi looks today. She was very skinny when she found her forever home, but now has filled out some. Great going, Bambi!
Rocky has been renamed Brady. He has been adopted by a wonderful family in Rhode Island, and he bonded with them immediately. He has them wrapped around his little paws. Thank you, David and Linda, David Jr., and Matthew, for giving Brady all the love and happiness he sooo deserves! Have Brady's feet touched the ground yet?
Marty was adopted by a wonderful couple in New Hampshire in August of 2004. They opened up their hearts and home to this great pup. He is enjoying walks through the woods and over a hand-built bridge across a bubbling stream! During vacations, Marty travels with his new mom and dad to New York, Connecticut, and Missouri.
Eva and Cassie have a wonderful new home in Vermont!
Tico and Tony have gone to a wonderful home with Laura and David in Connecticut. They will each have their own lap to lie on and their dream of staying together has come true. They will be very much loved and pampered in their new home. Laura and David were absolutely thrilled when they met the boys, and it was love at first sight. Congrats to Laura, David, Tico, and Tony!
Little Rocky has been adopted by Deb and John and now resides in New Hampshire. He is a 7-pound "bundle of fun", and never stops entertaining the family. He loves to snuggle in pillowcases, and now has several pillows of his own. He is very playful in the house and has a great time playing catch with himself by flipping his little stuffy toy in the air, then chasing it wherever it goes. He acts like an agility dog when going for walks outdoors. It is hard to keep up with him at times. Rocky relaxes in the sunshine that beams into the house after his playtime. If anyone needs to find Rocky, he is either in the sun or in a pillowcase (unless he is snuggling on the sofa with his new forever family, John and Deb). Rocky has made this family very happy, and he is loved and showered with attention. Isn't that what all Chihuahuas deserve?

Thanks to both of you wonderful women for making Billy's life GREAT. You are home, Billy, thanks to Nell and your new mom. Yeah!
Billy is a Japanese Chin/long-coated Chihuahua mix. He was kept crated for the first year of his life. He was rescued from his plight by Nell - a wonderful woman in Massachusetts. Billy was starving - filthy and matted - when she got him. She kept him for several months, cleaned him and vetted him, and put some weight on him. She loved him dearly, but due to her job she just couldn't sentence him to more of a life of loneliness. She made the right decision to let him come to rescue, where he could find a home with the life and company he deserved. Billy soon found he loved running and playing with other Chihuahuas and humans. Billy is the sweetest little boy despite his tough first year of life. He now runs like a cross between a gazelle and a rabbit. He is so grateful to Nell for his new- found freedom! He's an all-around joy to humans and doggies. He's been renamed Milagro ("miracle"), or Milo for short, and has been adopted by an awesome woman in Massachusetts who has four Chihuahuas that Billy is having a blast with, and his new mom is home 24/7. No more loneliness for him!
Honey has found a little bit of heaven right here on earth with a very nice Massachusetts woman who is already devoted to her. This is the ideal situation for sweet little Honeybun. She is getting lots of lap time and snuggles.
This lucky little guy, Frankie, made a full recovery from Lyme disease. He has been adopted by a wonderful and loving couple who have provided him with new playmates ... a St. Bernard, a shepherd cross who's missing one paw, and three cats. All are rescues.

He is a very happy and much loved boy.
The family who adopted this dog has kept the name "Wheezer". They have another delightful little doggie who bonded immediately with Wheezer, and as a bonus they also have a very dog-friendly cat! And Wheezer likes cats! Wheezer is fully recovered from his breathing problems and his coat is coming in nicely. We very much appreciate the adopters who applied for him even when his health issues were unresolved. A very happy ending for a very friendly little Chi guy!
Ruby has been adopted by George and Carolann. She also has 3 other family members to love and play with - Carol, William, and Jacqueline. Ruby quickly wrapped her new family around her little paws and is loved very much in return. Ruby LOVES helping her new dad George tend to the chickens and has filled a void in his heart. Yay, Ruby! Good job!

Posa Katy

We are very excited at YCRAA. We have a three-time adopter! Katy has been adopted by a wonderful woman in Massachusetts who previously adopted our Sunshine (now Posa), and our Pierre (now Bicho). Katy's name is now Quita, which is short for "mariquita bonita", which means "pretty ladybug", and she'll be called "Quita" because it sounds similar to Katy. Katy also has two new sisters, Hada and Luna! Wow! BischoKaty (like Sunshine) needed a special person to allow her time to adjust to a new home and new humans. She's doing wonderfully in her new home, and her new moms, Alison and Louise, just adore her, as do her Chihuahua brother and sisters. Katy is having a ball running around with the other Chihuahuas, and is adjusting very well! Thanks, Alison and Louise, for giving Katy her forever home! Above are Posa, Bischo, and Katy.
Cara Mia has been adopted by a very kind and caring woman in Massachusetts. Dolly had been patiently awaiting a doggie to adopt. We explained that while Cara Mia was being spayed, the vet discovered two hernias and a weak jaw. This did not deter Dolly at all! She adopted Cara Mia sight unseen ( she has no computer). All she wanted was to help a dog in need of a home. Well, it was love at first sight! Cara's new mom says she's unique and the greatest Chihuahua in the world. Cara's feet won't be touching the ground much. Thanks, Dolly!
Sparky and Aiko have gone to a wonderful home with Marilyn in Connecticut. When Marilyn met them, it was love at first sight. Aiko and Sparky were climbing all over her and were competing with each other to see who could give her the most Chihuahua kisses. Marilyn was absolutely thrilled. They will live a very happy and pampered life with their new mom. Congratulations to Marilyn, Sparky, and Aiko!

Cookie has been adopted. She has gone to her forever home to be with her new pal Bevo. Sarah and son, Cookie's new family, will be happy now with dogs and cats, and Cookie has a real boy of her own. Congratulations all!
Beau and Bud are two bonded boys who asked only to stay together and to give love and get love in return. They have been adopted by John and Cathy of Connecticut. The boys are smothering them with love that they get in return. They are also entertaining their new family with their playful antics! John and Cathy have gone to great extents to keep these guys together. The boys bring lots of smiles to their new family, and John and Cathy say it's like they've always been there. The boys now have a family of four to love them. This is truly a Happy Ending for all. Thank you, John and Cathy, for taking them into your hearts and home, and fulfilling their dream of staying together.
Chino has been adopted by Glenda in Lynn, Mass. Chino was in foster care for 5 months, looking for the right home. And then he found it! He now has the best mom in the world, and he will get all the love and care he needs and deserves. He will be with her all the time and be one spoiled little boy. Congratulations to both Glenda and Chino!
Pierre has been adopted by a repeat adopter! He has been adopted by Alison and Louise in S. Dartmouth, Mass.
First they adopted Sunshine, who needed extra adjustment time for her new home. She had a sad past and had to have an eye removed. Her story can be read below on this page.
Pierre had been removed from his original home because he was being thrown against walls and kicked down flights of stairs. He was then adopted into a home that did a very good job teaching him to trust humans again. The couple had a baby and Pierre, like most Chihuahuas, was not happy around children, and became snappish towards the child. He had a fear of stairs. He'd been an "only dog", and when he came into foster he was faced with meeting 6 new Chihuahuas.
He was very snappish towards them at first, but soon calmed down and fit right in with the pack! He flourished being with multiple playmates, and he was having a ball! He LOVES toys - balls - human and doggie play. He kept his foster home well entertained with his antics. He even started bounding stairs 5 at a time!Pierre's foster mom had the extreme pleasure of seeing her former foster, Sunshine, at Pierre's new home. Sunshine was beautiful and sooo bonded with her new mom. Pierre fit right in immediately, running around happily, claiming his spot on the couch, and charming Alison and Louise. It was as if he had been there forever! Pierre loves sitting on Grandma Louise's lap while she tells him that he's her li'l angel. He runs up and down the stairs care free.
Pierre is totally at his forever home now. He has Alison and Louise wrapped around his paw and he has a harem of 3 beautiful Chihuahua girls! What more could he ask for? Pierre's new name is Bicho Guapu (bug handsome) Guillermo (Bill, after his foster dad). We have an all-around happy ending for many happy dogs and humans.
This is what YCRAA strives for - perfect matches! Yeah! Thank you, Alison and Louise!
Skeeter has been adopted by Ron and Bob of Connecticut. They already have 2 Chihuahuas so Skeeter has new playmates. Congrats to all!
Bandit has been adopted and will share his home with a new "lady friend". She was missing her former companion, another large friend, and his devoted new Mom down in Plymouth, Mass. Best wishes to all!

Mojo was hit by a car in Taunton, Mass. He was brought to an emergency care center and left to be euthanized, as the owner didn't want to pay his medical bills.

The vet on duty just could not bring herself to euthanize such a sweet boy, so she had him signed over to her so she could find him a home. He had 3 fractures in his pelvis and one fracture right thru his hip. Roz Elliott, DVM, realized Mojo could heal with plenty of crate rest and possibly surgery in the future. She sent out a cry for help to rescue groups and YCRAA responded immediately. Roz even went so far as to drive Mojo two hours to his new foster home. Mojo remained crated (except for being carried in and out to potty) and on pain meds for a month. His previous owner had kept him tied in the yard - not a good way to live for ANY dog. Mojo needed a new life.

Mojo has been adopted by Heather and Wendy from Taunton, Mass., the very town he came from. They are continuing the care he needs to recover. Mojo now gets tons of love, and when he feels up to it, he'll have a safe fenced yard to run around in. Hooray for Mojo, Heather, and Wendy. And special thanks to Roz Elliott, DVM! Mojo update: It was decided that Mojo needed surgery. Heather and Wendy did not hesitate to get it done. They had the best possible surgery done for him ensuring he would not get arthritis in the future. What good moms he has! Mojo is now romping around rambunctiously and happily and normally. He has stolen the hearts of his foster moms and goes everywhere with them. Mojo loves all people and has a very forgiving heart, even though his first home was not very good. He accompanies his moms on home visits for prospective adopters. He's truly everything Roz said he is - a very sweet boy who did not deserve to be put to sleep. This is a Very Happy Ending for DVM Roz, Mojo, his foster home, and his new moms. Congrats to all!

Markie is now named Omar. He is pictured above with Mercedes and Chumley, who love him dearly. He fit right into his new home from day one. He bonded immediately with Blaine and Rachel and Mercedes and Chumley. He loves snuggling and playing with his new humans and canines. Despite his being a Sato from Puerto Rico, and despite other misfortunes he encountered before coming to YCRAA, he has remained very sweet and fun-loving - a really trusting li'l guy. He wins the hearts of all who meet him. His new mom and dad can't say enough about how much they love love love Omar! Below is a comment from Omar's humans:
"Omar (Markie) has adjusted amazingly well to his new home. We are sure this is due to his wonderful personality, and due to the kindness and love he received from his foster parents, Bill and Linda. He is adored by all residents (both human and canine) of his new home."
Rico has found his forever home! He has settled in nicely with his new family including sister C. J. The two run around and play non-stop. They adore each other and are inseparable. They are pictured here in a rare moment, re-energizing for more playtime! Congratulations, everyone!
Twink, one of our "Very Special Doggies" has been adopted by a "Very Special Couple", indeed! Barbara and Robert have taken Twink into their home, in spite of all her health problems, and will give her all the love she needs and deserves. Congrats and thanks!
Bella and Beau are very lucky little doggies. After becoming playmates and best friends in their foster home, they were able to go to a wonderful forever home in Penacook, NH together! Their new family says they are doing wonderfully, and they cannot imagine life without them!
Here is Ricky, who was found wandering the streets. He has found his happy ending in a very loving home and will never be alone again thanks to a very special family.
Baylee has gone to her new forever home in Rhode Island with Kelly and Carol and her new canine playmates, Shelby and Tia. Shelby is a gentle and extremely friendly Lab cross, and Tia is a 4.5 pound Chihuahua. Baylee settled in right away and enjoyed playing ball with Tia and jumping into Kelly's lap for hugs and kisses. Even though Baylee was abused by her previous owner, she has tons of love and kisses to give. Kelly is thrilled because Baylee is such a wonderful girl and Baylee is ecstatic because she gets to be part of such a fabulous family. She burrows under the blankets at night to her heart's content!
Luna was adopted by Jeanne in Meriden. Luna joins her new brother, Rusty, a corgi, who was immediately smitten with his new friend. Luna immediately explored her beautiful new yard and comfy house.
Jake has been adopted by a family in Connecticut ... Jerri, her son, and two other Chihuahuas. One of the two has epilepsy, just as Jake does, so the new human family is already savvy to Jake's medical issues.Jake's new mom is planning to be a YCRAA volunteer and help as a foster mom. Yay! Congrats to Jake and his new family!
Kissey has been adopted by a family in Maine where she will live with her 4 new humans and a little Italian greyhound. They say she has fit in like she's been there for a long time, and she belongs to all in the house. They consider her the perfect match for their doggie needs. Kissey now has a forever home with her wonderful new family!
Lilly
A VERY, VERY SPECIAL HAPPY ENDING! Kamutz, now named Junior, has found his "forever home" with Mary Ann and Dan in Middleboro, Massachusetts. Kamutz remained in the foster care of Mary Frankio of Italian Greyhound rescue for many months until he moved to Middleboro with his new family. His favorite places are in front of the fireplace where it's warm and cozy, and in Mary Ann's and Dan's laps. He is pictured with his new sister Lilly, who has recently gone blind, and she follows Junior to navigate the yard. He also has a kitty friend named Gabriel. Junior's tail wags all the time, and Mary Ann and Dan can't imagine life without him. Junior, Gabriel, and Lilly happily greet them at the door every time they come home. Mary Ann and Dan are still working at getting a bit more weight on Junior. He weighs a muscular 4 1/2 pounds now, but happily he has a clean bill of health. They hope to get his weight up to 5 pounds in the coming months. Junior looks 100% better than he did when he first came to rescue, and we are all very proud of his continued improvement. Hurray to Mary and Mary Ann and Dan for continuing his progress!!
Update: From Junior's "forever mom": Junior now lives with us and he will never have to worry about being cold, as you can see in the picture. Think he's spoiled? You bet! He'll never be hungry or neglected again, and he will forever be loved by us and those that meet him. Before bed each night, he gets his snack, hand fed, piece by piece ... he's training us well. You'll never hear us complain though, we just have to look at his beautiful brown eyes and we fall in love all over again. These last few months we've seen him grow stronger but, most important, trusting of people. He plays with Lilly, even though she doesn't know it ... LOL, and he fetches his own little teddy bear. Summer is coming and he loves the sun. It winds him up for a run around our yard. What a riot to see him take off and enjoy the Italian Greyhound in him! Yes, indeed, Junior has found his "forever home" with us!
Kamutz came to YCRAA from a very stressful situation. He was very thin and no longer had the desire to eat or drink. He was force-fed food and water until his appetite sparked and he began eating and drinking on his own. He soon had weight gain. He remained in foster care for almost 3 months. He is an Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix. Due to the Italian Greyhound traits in him, YCRAA decided it was best for Kamutz to go to an IG rescue group that could find the proper home to suit his needs. Update: Here is Junior after a year with his new mom and dad. What a handsome boy! We still don't know what in his past gave him this extreme fear of eating, but thanks to loving patient people he is doing extremely well and enjoys gearing up in his huge yard for his daily IG run! And boy, can he run! He is a sweet, sweet boy regardless of his past, and we have some very happy humans and one very lucky and happy little Chihuahua/Italian greyhound. Below is a comment from his mom:

"We still have to hand-feed him every day, but he's learned to get some of his dry food, piece by piece, into his mouth (we leave it on the floor so he's always got access to it), though he can't eat enough on his own to really survive. Doesn't matter, we don't care, feeding him is now part of our routine for him.

From Suzie's new family, Dan and Sally: Suzie's a keeper and has found her Happy Ending Home." She is a treasure, and we feel flattered to have her accept us! Thank you for "saving" her for us.
Sweetie immediately took charge of her new home and humans. She has the home she so longed for. She works non-stop acting cute, and amusing Steve and Nancy. She found it very easy to become "Queen of the Castle" and finds it even easier to keep her "subjects" at her beck and call. Sweetie, Steve, and Nancy were meant to be together, and there could not be more love lavished on Sweetie than she has found with her new mom and dad! Thank you, Nancy and Steve!
Link, who has been renamed "Pharaoh", has been adopted by a New Hampshire family! He took a liking to their 16-year-old daughter, and, when he met her, immediately curled up on her lap and took a nap. He will be very spoiled with excessive amounts of love and attention in his new home!
Reggie has found his forever home with Erica and Yann. It was a true match the minute Reggie saw them. Reggie made himself right at home including giving smooches to his new mom and dad. Reggie's foster mom couldn't be prouder of Reggie and his new family!
DiamondGirl is happy in her forever home with Kathy, Ed and Sister Pepi-Two. Life is sweet and our "diamond-in-the-rough" is shining bright.
